Description

Managed a few hours on this nice galaxy. The moon was intrusive and the air was very damp, so the resolution is not great. Also, some problems with guiding (again) and I had to throw out a couple of exposures. I think the trouble on this night was the guide camera was chasing the star around as it wobbled with the seeing. Longer guide exposures may help - such a lot to learn!

ngc 6015 is a fairly typical spiral, type Sc, fairly isolated and a little warped. It is mag. 11.6 but I couldn't see it through the eyepiece at x 100. Surface brightness is 14.1 so that's why. It's not very big 5.5' x 2' but it's not a long way away, 38MLy.

30 x 120 second exposures, less the couple I lost. I think it would have been a bit better if the sky wasn't so bright. There are a lot of very fine galaxies in this general area.
